This Is the Season That Asks You to Choose

There is a moment, once a year, when day and night stand in perfect balance. The Equinox arrives quietly, without ceremony, and yet ancient traditions across the world have always known it as sacred. This year, that balance point lands on the same day the sun enters Libra, the sign whose entire nature is balance itself. Two forces, arriving together, asking the same question: what does it mean to stand exactly between light and dark, and choose?

I don't think that's a coincidence. I think it's an invitation.

Why the Darkness Matters

We live in a culture that chases light and runs from darkness. We want to feel good, look good, manifest good, and skip past anything that feels heavy along the way. But there is no light without the dark. We cannot see the stars without night. We cannot recognize warmth without having known cold. And we cannot access the infinite potential within us without first being willing to walk through what's been hiding in the dark parts of ourselves.

This is not a season to fear the darkness. It's a season to let it show you where your light actually lives.

Every fear you've been avoiding, every old grief, every belief that's told you who you're allowed to be, these aren't obstacles blocking your light. They are the very things pointing toward it. You cannot awaken what you refuse to look at.

The Wisdom of the Season

In Ayurveda, this transition marks the shift into Vata season, a time of movement, change, and thinning boundaries between what was and what's coming. The old wisdom here is simple. Slow down. Ground yourself. Return to warmth, routine, and stillness before the busyness of the world pulls you forward without you. The body knows how to hold balance if we give it the chance.

And in the wisdom of the stars, this is Libra's moment, the sign that teaches us balance isn't something we find once and keep. It's something we return to, again and again, choosing it deliberately rather than waiting for life to hand it to us. Ancient teachings point to these first days of Libra season as one of the most potent windows of the entire year, a moment when whatever seed you plant, consciously or not, begins shaping the twelve months ahead.

What You Release Is What You Plant

This is why I've spent this entire month teaching on the power of letting go. Because these two things, releasing and planting, are not separate acts. They are the same act, seen from two sides.

You cannot plant something new in soil that's still full of what came before. The fear you haven't named still takes up space. The anger you've suppressed still shapes your choices from somewhere underground. Letting go isn't about forcing anything away. It's about finally giving what you've been carrying permission to move, so there's room for what's actually trying to grow.

An emotion can move through you without becoming your identity. Anger can pass through without becoming who you are. Grief can be honored without swallowing you whole. And in that space, in the quiet after something has finally been allowed to move, that's exactly where the seed gets planted.

We Awaken Each Other

Here's what I've come to know, deep in my bones. When you do this work, when you turn inward and awaken the infinite potential that's always been within you, you don't just change your own life. You give everyone around you permission to do the same.

Whether you call it God, the Creator, Source, or simply the greater forces at play in all of this, there is a design here. The darkness was never punishment. It was always the thing pointing you home, toward the light that was in you before you ever went looking for it outside.

What Actually Changes a Life

If there is one thing I have learned across decades of this work, across thirty years of studying six different modalities to heal my own life, it's this. It was never the single dramatic breakthrough that changed everything. It was showing up. Daily. Quietly. A practice returned to again and again, especially on the days it felt hardest to sit down.

That consistency, more than any single insight, is what actually transforms a life.

So as this season turns, as the light and dark stand in balance and the seed gets planted for whatever comes next, I'd ask you this. What are you ready to release? And what might grow, if you finally gave it room?
